Assumption/Resurrection's Prayer Shawl-Baptism Blanket Ministry members are actively knitting and crocheting prayer shawls and baptism blankets. This ministry enriches the giver as well as the receiver. Shawls are knit or crocheted for a variety of reasons such as illness/death of a loved one, friendship, caring, and celebration.
Meetings are held on the first Wed. of each month from 1:00 to 2:30 PM and from 7:00 - 8:30 PM. Feel free to attend either meeting, usually in the Parish Living Room or in Room #1. Please check the parish calendar for room changes. Also, activities are sometimes canceled due to snow conditions. In these cases, please check our home page or the parish office at 388-0040 ext 1344.
If you don’t crochet, lessons will be provided to anyone who wants to learn. Please do join us! Each color of the yarns has special meanings. For example; red for energy, strength, love & courage and green for healing harmony, safety, hope, protection. Shawls are blessed once per month. If you cannot make the meetings you can still be part of this wonderful ministry and knit from home. Patterns are available.
If you are a caregiver of someone who is ill or know of someone who needs a prayer shawl because of illness or grieving, please contact us at [email protected].
We now have blessed prayer shawls and lap blankets located underneath the pamphlet rack in the foyer. Look for the sign! We ask that you sign the distribution sheet located in the cabinet on a clip board before taking one.
