Our Faith, Hope, and Sharing Program this past Fall reminded us that we need to be thankful for the blessings we enjoy within our parish communities at Resurrection and Assumption. Your continued support and generosity allow so many ministries to continue and flourish.
This week’s Spotlight is on the Ministry of the Mercy Fund and Caring & Sharing.
Pictured (from left to right) are volunteer Veronica Gehrmann and parish secretary Julie Dapolito-Terrell. Veronica, Frank DeChalais and Deni Mack (all from Assumption), together with Kaye Brotzman (at Resurrection), and an army of volunteers from both parishes, work together to organize an effective ministry of outreach to the poor and those in need in our area. At Assumption, this is called the
Mercy Fund. At Resurrection, it’s called
Sharing and Caring. Regardless of the ministry names, the focus is the same: helping the poor, clothing the naked, feeding the hungry. Requests come into both parishes for needs (typically taken over the phone by Julie) that require time and effort to sort out. Dedicated volunteers like Veronica and Frank determine the most effective course of action to provide help, often in emergency situations.
Both the Mercy Fund and Caring & Sharing rely on the generosity of parishioners like yourself to help the less fortunate in our community and beyond. As Christians, we realize that all human beings are truly are brothers and sisters – some of whom need specific help when life becomes too burdensome. Thanks to the volunteers of the
Mercy Fund and
Sharing and Caring, life can be just a little easier for those in need.
