Isaiah 63:16b-17,19b;64:2-7; Psalm 80: 2- 3, 15-16, 18-19; 1 Corinthians 1:3-9; Mark 13: 33-37
Lots of bad stuff happening all around the world; even right close to home. So I come burdened with tough realities as I reflect on today’s scriptures. I want to apply Your WORD, dear God to our world today. Here goes:
Why dear God do you let people wander from your ways? Why is my heart so hardened that I overeat while others starve and thirst and ache and grieve?
We wait for you dear God to heal addicts and give hope to their loved ones.
We wait for you dear God to change the heart of the next murderer, to stop the violence.
We wait for you dear God to help each young man and woman find jobs that pay enough so they don’t have to live in their car.
We wait for you dear God to help each ill person find needed meds and care.
And the longer I wait the more I realize it is up to us to BE your presence throughout the long waits for healing, changing and helping. Is that what it means to be alert to your coming into our world today? Is that the readiness you want? Please God help us, each in our little ways, do what you would have us do so that when you come you find us ready.
Blessings,
