The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)

WelcomeThe Order of Christian Initiation of Adults is a process of study, exploration, faith sharing, and faith formation with special liturgical rites throughout the process. Through discussions, prayers, and reflection, we accompany each person on this journey of faith, allowing each person to develop their relationship with God.
This process fosters the spiritual needs of the following persons:
• Those adults never baptized, who seek to become Catholic,
• Those adults baptized in another Christian church, who seeks to be Catholic.
• Those adults already baptized as Catholic, but who have not celebrated the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist.
When a person considers becoming Catholic, we, welcome him or her to begin the process from the moment of Inquiry. For us, OCIA is not a program, based on the school calendar. Rather, it is a process, allowing an Inquirer to begin discernment at any time. This perspective also allows each person, along with our pastor and team, to determine the length of the process. Each person has a unique relationship with God, and our team’s objective is to accompany them on that journey. At certain points, the team offers individuals the invitation to advance through certain stages of the process. (See "The Journey" below)

Inspire a Future Catholic!
We invite interested parishioners to help inspire a future Catholic by purchasing a Bible and sharing a short message. The message need not be long: a paragraph of encouragement, and maybe a little sharing about the unique way that God speaks to you through scripture (such as a favorite verse or story). These messages often help break open the Bible and make it feel less intimidating.
